The Monster1st Brand
Our brand is important to us, so we've put together a few pointers on how we'd like it to be used.
1. Background
The brand identity of Monster1st has come about slowly and evolved over time. When first creating the concept of Monster1st, the offering in terms of rental type was not as broad as it is now and was restricted to property and room rentals only. But, as we started to develop the site, we soon came to realise that our service could easily be used for many other rental options, which now also include commercial, retail, storage and parking rentals. In time and as our membership increases, the brand could easily move into many sectors. With this in mind, and after toying with many brand names and dozens of creative designs for our service, we opted for a brand name and identity which we think is fun, creative and all encompassing.
We like to think of ourselves as being a little unique, creative and quirky, so in our goal to bring a brand to market which represents our approach to web development and design, we thought a character to represent the brand was a must. Fortunately for us, Sally Hunter (renowned and industry leading artist, author and designer) is the sister of Rob, our founder and co-director.
2. Our Logo
There are two different types of our logo - our full Monster1st logo and our icon.
The Monster1st Logo
We prefer our full logo to be used wherever possible. There are 4 variations of our logo:
The Monster1st Icon
Where our full logo will not fit or is not suitable, our icon may be used.
3. Our Colours
We like to keep things very simple in terms of colour used, you can find our main palette below.
4. Our Fonts
All of the copy within our website and material is called Poppins.
This can be downloaded from Google Fonts.
5. Monty & illustrations
Sally Hunter, the creator of Humphrey's Corner, Digby Dragon and many other illustrative brands, has done much to help in our creative process, helping us with the design, look and feel of our site. She also created our brand character Monty, along with all other drawings, sketches and illustrations shown throughout the brand.
